Johnson, Killorn, Carle all go away to keep Stamkos, Drouin and Kucherov. Bishop/Vasy is the unknown.

The Maple Leafs have won the lottery and the plan in Toronto is working to perfection...Jonathan Drouin has lived up to potential in Tampa....The question now is...How does this all affect Steven Stamkos to the Maple Leafs?

Buyout or package deal. Move a guy like Johnson and Carle for a pick or prospect. Keep a little salary if you need to.

Won't effect Drouin at all.

The biggest thing that will effect Stamkos is whether or not the players vote to use the cap escalator. I think they won't.

from the boston herald...

There’s also nothing but speculation on whether Stamkos, who can become an unrestricted free agent as of July 1, will re-sign with Tampa Bay or hit the open market. If he does reach free agency, he’ll likely command a long-term pact with a salary cap hit of maybe $9 million.

One good source told us late this season that Stamkos would love to play in Boston. Could the B’s afford to make that sort of giant splash? Maybe.

That's considered a tanking deal.

Actually Killer and TJ could stay with a Carle trade/buyout and a Filppula move.

Mathews a generational player? Are people already stamping this kids ticket to the HOF? He might not even be the best Leafs prospect.

It is more likely the Bolts move out any of the impending contracts not named Hedman or Kucherov

Yeah I find it all a bit comical too. Nevertheless, when things like this happen in TOR and MTL it always has more hype than it deserves.

Quote: "the Leafs will be adding a generational player to their line-up"

Since when is every 1st overall a generational player? Since Crosby and Ovechkin maybe McJesus before them it was Lemieux. People seem to throw that around too much.
